subset chair 01
a chair designed by discovering traditional aesthetic elements and reinterpreting them in a modern way from a ‘superset’ perspective.
first of all, we studied traditional Korean forms and thought about how to express them in design (points, lines, and planes).
first of all, we studied traditional Korean forms and thought about how to express them in design (points, lines, and surfaces).
we created specific chair shapes and proportions based on the Korean design elements we had derived. although the same design elements were used, each type gave off a different feeling.
we had to pay attention to the combination of each element, because the final design was designed to be slim to perfectly convey the feeling it was trying to express. that is why we designed a unique method for the combination structure of the legs and the body.
